The Thurgoland Scarecrow Trail
A party in the park and the whole village is invited
Thurgoland party in the park & Scarecrow trail was an astounding success, the community as a whole & neighbouring villages all thoroughly enjoyed the day. The weather was kind for us and hundreds of locals came to walk around the village admiring the fabulously created ‘book’ characters that had been made and displayed for everyone to enjoy.
The Scarecrow Trail Competition
The 3 winners were Minions, The Tiger who came to tea and Paddington Bear, one of the winners Andrea Daniels & family kindly donated their prize money to Thurgoland school PFSA who have obviously struggled with fundraising during the pandemic. Local bands including the ‘Buspass Buskers’ singing the great golden oldie classics and the brilliant soul singer ‘Luther’ played on the field all afternoon whilst the kids (and some adults) enjoyed races, fun and games.
Making the Magic Happen
We were so pleased to get involved with such a spectacular event. Tremendous thanks to Rachel Marshall for organising the event and to the team at Thurgoland Village Welfare for making it all possible. We had a wild time with John Anderson racing around the village on Saturday morning taking snaps of all the Scarecrows before the day began.
Between ourselves and the team at Arncliffe Homes, we were overjoyed to provide the prizes for the competition and we were so touched to see such incredible entries.
Thank you so much for welcoming us into the community and letting us get involved with such an exciting weekend. Rachel & John are already thinking of ways to make it bigger & better next year, and we hope we can be a part of it again.
If you want to support the Thurgoland community and get involved in future events the village welfare AGM is to be held Sunday 19/09/2021 at 7pm in Thurgoland Village Hall. So if anyone is interested in getting involved please do come along.
